Portrait Photography FAQ

  • What kind of photography do you specialize in?

My style is cinematic, candid, glamorous, and refined. I’m totally comfortable doing your traditional staged photos — but clients hire me for that extra special touch that candid moments and that cinematic aesthetic offers.

I excitedly await working with you on Single Portraits, Couple/Engagement Sessions, Friend Groups, Wedding and Elopements.

(No newborn shoots, please. Too much pressure!)

  • When is the best time to take photos?

If we’re outside, then GOLDEN HOUR is the best time to take photos. The magical sun hugs your silhouette, softens skin detail, and transforms mundane settings into dreamy landscapes.

If we’re indoors, then just about any time would suffice. I’ll bring my flash photography kit!

  • Isn't the best time to take photos when the sun is high and bright?

NOPE. When the sun is super high and super bright, it’s harsh on people’s skin. We’ll see everything you would rather hide. Pores, fine lines, seasonal depression.

You’ll also have shadows over your eyes as if you were possessed in a scary movie or secretly the killer. Yipes!

  • How do I let my photographer know my preferred aesthetic?

Create and share a Pinterest Mood Board filled with ideas on posing, locations, colors, outfits, and anything else you’d like to communicate to your photographer. That’s the simplest, most efficient way of doing that.

Also, you will have a consultation session to go over the details in a call, via DM, or text — which ever form of contact that you prefer.

Your photographer will also happily advise on locations, styles, and themes.

  • Can I wear more than one outfit during a portrait session?

Absolutely! You can wear as many as outfits as you would like — basically, however many you can squeeze into during the duration of the session.

If it’s a 2-hour shoot, you have as many outfits you can fit into 2 hours. If it’s all day, then you got all day!

  • Do you only do natural light photography?

I happily do BOTH natural light and flash photography — and of course, mixed lighting which is comprised of both on location.

I personally prefer natural light photography because, imo, you simply cannot beat the glorious sun during a magical sunset.
